Sleep

Sleep

Sleep bids me come hither,
Ever so subtly and demurely
The mind lulling itself to rest
Eyes, faintly bloodshot and teary
Endeavour to close and find relief
Upon soft fabric, tired I lay
The silence of the night
Like a coruscanting nuance
Envelopes my senses

Yet sleep eludes me,
Weary yet not being able to get rest
A fatigued body vainly wrestles to suppress
A fatigued mind running in overdrive
Serotonin coursing through the brain
Attempts to sedate every firing neuron
Writhing around in bed
The fabric rustling is all I hear
As I pursue this elusive thing called sleep
Yet maybe, If I dont pursue
To me, it would return
Then there I may truly find ......
